Summers are for READING!

We always go to the Public Library and participate in their Summer Reading program. I LOVE, LOVE ,LOVE Children's Literature. So many books  I have memorized from reading them over and over again to my own kids and to kids while teaching. I have a HUGE, children's book collection.  I have always been interested in  the Caldecott collection.  The Caldecott Medal goes to one book a year for having the most distinguished Children's book illustrations. This honor began in 1938. I was able to get an up to date, current 2008 poster of all the CM books  from Mrs. Sue Lawless, the Librarian at Karns middle school.  We started this week with our goal~ reading ALL 71 of the CM books . That will be at least one a day - all summer!   Some of them I  already have, but some we will have to get from the library, especially some of the older ones.  You can go to www.ala.org  (American Library Association)  to get a copy of all the book titles for yourself !

Paci addict

Emma Grace and her paci are still attached.  She always has one with her and sometimes two. She's even been known to have 2 at a time and one in each hand. Her dentist has already told us about "paci teeth" and I've heard every suggestion under the sun to "say bye bye to paci".  The boys never liked a pacifier , so  kicking this addiction is new to us. It is such a comfort thing for her. I am seriously going to try to start weaning her off.  Please pray for this process. (Seriously!) She loves it SO much , but it really is past time to give it up - I know.  

For the LOVE of a bottle!

Today while getting rid of some "old stuff", Emma walked in the room while I was packing away some of her baby things. She saw one of her old bottles and had a fit! She hasn't had a bottle in over a year now. But she still remembers them fondly. She LOVES to give her babies bottles - so I know she remembers them. She said "put some milk in it mommy PULEEEZZZ!"  So I did. It was so funny to watch her drink it. She was so serious and enjoyed every drop of it. At first  I thought her eyes were going to roll back into her head.  She loved it so much.
